Purpose
The main aim of this workshop is to raise awareness of the risks associated with northern expeditions through a 45-minute training session. This training was presented at the Arctic Change international conference held in Ottawa in December 2024.
This workshop explores the different aspects of preparation for missions in the North. It covers a variety of topics related to the challenges of the field, such as safety, social issues and adapting to extreme conditions, before moving on to strategies for mitigating risks by preparing body and mind.
“Through interactive exchanges, participants shared their experiences and discussed best practices for anticipating and overcoming obstacles specific to northern expeditions.”
This workshop was developed by Emmanuelle Gouin, Véronique Dion Larivière and Laurianne Dumont, graduate students at the Université du Québec à Rimouski and members of the CEN Student Committee.
