A research team, including plant ecology professor Guillaume de Lafontaine (UQAR) and doctoral student Todor S Minchev, is exploring the past and present dynamics of tree populations in temperate and boreal forests in the face of climate change, including sugar maple. The paleoecological data collected has shown that temperate species have responded individually to past climate change.

The boreal forest may be more resilient than expected: find out the team's explanations in the popular science article published in The Conversation.
